GetEmployed.today nationwide impact initative was launched on 9 September 2021. Do you know that, as of August 2021, there are over 764,900 Unemployed Malaysians. In an article dated 7 July 2021 on Free Malaysia Today, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi said a survey conducted by the Ministry found that around 580,000 businesses or 49% of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises sector, could collapse by October 2021 if operations don't resume.
Malaysian experts fear that if this happens, millions of Malaysians will be rendered unemployed. Assuming each worker has two dependents, this will be a tragic scenario. Reports from the Department of Statistics show that, as of July 2021, 600,000 families have moved from M40 down to B40 group (2).
What does this scenario mean to all those who have lost their jobs or income? They now face the challenge of putting food on the table for their family. It also means a time of extreme weakness and mental agony. Long-term unemployment can wreak havoc on a person's sense of self-confidence and well-being. It also widens skills gap, other than past work experiences and qualifications not meeting potential Employers’ current needs !!!
But in these challenging times, there are a lot of people who are also doing well. Who are these people and what skills do they have? If everyone is able to acquire these skills, they too may get jobs locally and globally. Today, work has changed and one needs to pick up or enhance in-demand skills to meet the new normal, which is more of digital, analytical and soft skills. As much as everyone wants to up-skill, money is the barrier and training/learning costs a lot of money and the priority for the people now is to feed their family first.
While we see a rising number of Individuals and Food Banks distributing food and groceries, the next most important thing that we need to do is to Up-skill and Re-skill people, whereby they can quickly get Employed or be a Freelancer with the skills they have picked up.This will enable them to earn an income in the shortest possible time frame.
Having taken into account all of the above, LTT Global’s GetEmployed.today impact project reinvents learning through a structured Employment Readiness Program. It is positioned to quickly get people who have lost their jobs or their businesses, due to the pandemic, get back on their feet.
Participants get to join a 12 months holistic structured Employment Readiness Program for FREE.
The first 6 weeks will be focused on picking up in-demand skills. Participants have the option to choose their career path, either applying for a job, being an entrepreneur or doing freelance in today's GiG Economy.
